Ronald Nash graduated in Politics and Modern History from Manchester University before joining the UK Diplomatic Service. His early career took him to Moscow and New Delhi and later postings included as deputy ambassador successively in Austria and Sri Lanka. Thereafter Ronald held ambassadorships in Afghanistan, Nepal and Trinidad and Tobago. As a senior official in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London he worked on Russia, Eastern Europe, arms control, NATO, the UN Security Council and human rights. After leaving the Foreign Service Ronald continued to work for a number of UK government departments in London, particularly relating to international trade and Afghanistan. He has also acted as a consultant to international organisations and worked in a number of markets for European corporations in energy and other sectors. In 2009, at the invitation of the Turkmen Government and the UK Embassy in Ashgabat, Ronald Nash was appointed UK Co-Chair of the Turkmenistan/UK Trade and Industry Council (TUKTIC). TUKTIC holds annual business meetings alternating between London and Ashgabat, and has conducted high level business missions between the UK and Turkmenistan across a wide range of sectors.
