In the near future, the National leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will pay a visit to Iran. Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi wrote about this in his congratulatory message on the occasion of the Constitution Day and the State Flag of Turkmenistan.

According to IRNA, the visit will take place on 30 May.

In his reply, Arkadag Berdimuhamedov accepted the invitation, stressing that “the talks in Tehran will allow exchanging views on a wide range of development of bilateral relations and considering concrete ways to promote mutually beneficial cooperation.”

The Iranian leader expressed gratitude to Turkmenistan “for the firm position and willingness shown in the comprehensive expansion of cooperation between the two countries in international and bilateral formats, mainly on transit, in the water and energy spheres, as exemplified by the recent increase in gas transit volumes through the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov paid an official visit to Iran in June 2022.

In April of this year, Iran recorded a 358% increase in the volume of swap gas supplies from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan.
