Turkmenistan Considers Delivering Natural Gas to Türkiye

In his speech at the Extraordinary Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OST) in Turkish capital Ankara on Thursday, Chairman of Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stated that Turkmenistan is ready to consider delivering natural gas to Türkiye, the official Turkmen media reported.

Addressing the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and talking about major projects, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said: "If we strengthen our laws and regulations with Turkic-speaking countries using the diversification policy we will be able to bring the Turkmen gas to the families of each of our Turkish brothers”.

"This is about hydrocarbon resources. As for energy, if necessary, we are ready to discuss the laying of a gas pipeline and electric transmission line," National Leader of Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said, confirming that Turkmenistan is ready to implement such large-scale projects in the future.

Chairman of Halk Maslahaty also expressed hope that Turkmenistan will join the OST as a full member.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that thanks to the activities of Turkish businesses, projects worth $110.4 billion have been implemented in Turkmenistan since 2000.

Extraordinary Summit of the OTS held in Ankara was attended by the President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Kazakh President Kassym- Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Chairman of Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Urban, President of Turkic Republic of Northern Cyprus Ersin Tatar and Secretary General of OTS Kubanchbek Omuraliev.
