Dmitry Zhirnov, in an interview with the Izvestia newspaper, noted that Russian pipe manufacturers are ready to join the construction of the Afghan section of the gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to Pakistan and India, TASS reports. In an interview published on Monday, the ambassador noted that the two countries have a field for cooperation. "A month ago in Kabul, entrepreneurs from the Republic of Tatarstan signed a memorandum on the development of coal-fired thermal power in Afghanistan. This is a trilateral project with Iran and Pakistan," he told the newspaper. In addition, engineers from the Russian Federation examined boiler houses, heating networks, water supply systems, electrical substations in Kabul and prepared a plan for the restoration of the housing and communal services system. Experts from the Russian Federation are also participating in a technical group on the construction of a railway from Uzbekistan to Pakistan via Afghanistan. "A project is being prepared to create modern medical laboratories for the population in Afghan cities. Our entrepreneurs can also participate in the modernization of the Salang tunnel. The business council for cooperation with Afghanistan is working," Zhirnov told the publication. All this affects trade between the Russian Federation and Afghanistan. According to the Ambassador, the trade turnover between the countries increased by 40% over the year.
